People think the Queen shaded Trump with this subtle outfit accessory

Last week, Queen Elizabeth II hosted the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in what was a headline-hitting meet.Trump was criticised for not following royal protocol with Her Majesty, but people think the the 92-year-old may have subtly shaded the President back through one very telling accessory choice.

We all know that the Queen has no shortage of decorative and precious brooches, so the one she chose to wear while Donald Trump visited her country has raised eyebrows.

On Thursday 12th July, the day of Trump and his wife Melania landed in the UK, the Queen received Archbishop of Canterbury and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar at Windsor Castle.

For the occasion, she wore her American State Visit Brooch, gifted to her by Barack and Michelle Obama.

Yes, Queenie really did that.

The brooch was apparently a hand-picked by the Obamas and given to the Queen during the former President and First Lady’s state visit in 2011.

The ornate, vintage piece is a small green flower featuring 14-karat yellow gold, diamonds and moss agate.

But we already knew the Obamas had good taste.

The Queen has only worn the brooch a handful of times since it was gifted to her, and the day the new President arrived on her soil felt apt, apparently.

On Monday, a spokesperson for the royals released a formal statement to clear up a few rumours about why certain members of the royal family weren’t in attendance during Trump’s visit with the Queen.

Some people had been speculating that the reason Prince Harry, Prince William and Prince Charles were notably absent during the president’s trip to Windsor Castle was because they had flat out refused to meet Trump.

But apparently that wasn’t the case.

“In line with standard practice for guest of government visits the President was received by The Queen as Head of State,” a palace spokesperson told People.

“The arrangements were mutually agreed between the Palace and the UK and US governments. There was never a suggestion that other members of the royal family would take part.”

Snub or no snub, people were not happy with Trump’s treatment of the Queen which included failing to bow, walking in front of her during the inspection of the guards and keeping Her Majesty waiting for fifteen minutes.

But, according to royal expert Liz Brewer, the President’s behaviour was unlikely to be down to unabashed rudeness.

“He broke protocol, not deliberately. I think he was nervous, you could see he was nervous,” Brewer told Yahoo UK on ‘The Royal Box.’

“For the first time ever, this man was put in a position where he had to behave.”

Brewer holds the President’s first wife Ivana Trump as a client and has met Mr Trump and the Queen on numerous occasions.
