Pegasus, Tokyo Games and Farmers Protest; What Women Shared Online Last Week
As we continue to fight against the COVID-19 virus, women have taken to social media to spread positivity along with raising concerns about the political and social issues. Scroll through and see what they have had to say this week.
The main talk of the town last week was the crucial revelation made by a study conducted by a group of news firms including the Indian news firm The Wire. Their study revealed that the privacy of many including political leaders and journalists were lost by a single spyware named Pegasus developed by Israeli firm NSO. Here are some reactions online.
People need to read the reportage on #PegasusProject . All 50 thousand numbers weren’t spied on. That was clear from the start. However some definitely were and have been checked for it. So who did the spying? That should concern us all https://t.co/BMIUZnEjD8

Had the govt used #pegasus to snoop for National Security like it was meant for, we probably wouldn't have lost our jawans in Pulwama. But they thought spying on @RahulGandhi is more imp.
HOW IS THE ANTI-INDIA BJP NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF OUR JAWANS?

Modi has a chequered snooping record. The Gujarat model he ran saw him & Shah snooping on a young woman. #PegasusSnoopgate is just the latest in the Modi series

Recently, Anannyah Kumari Alex, Kerala’s first transwoman radio jockey, who also contested for the state assembly polls, was found dead at her apartment in Kochi. Poet and filmmaker Leena Manimekalai mourned her death and called for an investigation.
This is heartbreaking. I have personally known the cases of my transfriends butchered medically in the name of reassignment surgery. Ananya’s case has to be thoroughly investigated💔 #JusticetoAnanya https://t.co/UOlMHP8A24

The farmers have taken to the roads again to protest against the Centre’s agricultural laws. Political activist Kawalpreet Kaur and DMK MP Kanimozhi demanded the government to repeal the laws.
Farmers have started reaching Parliament Street. A parallel farmers parliament will be held today amidst police, barricades and water cannons. It’s been eight months since the protest started, the silence of the regime is criminal. #FarmersParliament pic.twitter.com/NefwuA9Zvr

Over the past 12 months, even during the pandemic, our farmers have been fighting against the new farm bill. A law should be beneficial to the people, when it does not then it's not a law it's a forcefully imposed order. (3/4)
