"She's the one relationship that I've ever had that there was no take — it was all give. And it was really lovely," Zylka said of his romance with Paris Hilton
During a recent appearance on the Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide podcast, The Leftovers alum, 38, opened up about his ex-fiancée and the regrets he has about the way their relationship went down.
Zylka dispelled any “misconceptions” about the hotel heiress, 42, and called her a “wonderful human being,” before revealing that the former couple decided to go their separate ways after she allegedly asked him to give up performing.
Due to Hilton’s previous experiences in her personal life, The Amazing Spiderman star shared that “acting wasn’t a choice for me during that time.” While he “completely understood” the reasons behind the Simple Life alum’s request, his love for the craft was “the one thing I couldn’t live without.”
During their two-year relationship, Zylka revealed that he “didn’t work” despite being at the “peak” of his career and going into the series finale of The Leftovers. He explained that he didn’t have any “regrets” about choosing “her over work,” but ultimately realized how “important” his acting career was to him.
“I've never been able to apologize to her for … not being grateful for the experience and like, all that she did for me,” he confessed. “She's the one relationship that I've ever had that there was no take — it was all give … and it was really lovely.”
In November 2018, Zylka and Hilton went their separate ways after getting engaged in January earlier that year. Though the former couple first crossed paths at a party for the Oscar Awards in 2010, their romantic relationship didn’t begin until 2016.
Five years post-breakup, Zylka admitted he still missed Hilton’s family members and spending time with her parents. “I miss driving from like her house to Bel Air to hang out with them,” he said on the podcast.
“I cannot tell you one bad thing about Paris, like that was all me,” he continued, noting how watching Hilton’s “booming” career and her growing family “just warms my heart more than anything.”
In November 2021, Hilton married Carter Reum in a three-day wedding extravaganza. The couple welcomed their first child, son Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, via surrogate in January 2023. The news came after Hilton shared that she and Reum tried in vitro fertilization in 2021.
