Paris Hilton is showing us a side of her we've never seen before.
Her new YouTube originals documentary "This Is Paris," streaming free on Hilton's YouTube channel, shares the 39-year-old socialite's untold story, as Hilton reflects on the physical and emotional abuse she alleges she endured at Provo Canyon School, a Utah boarding school for troubled teens that left her with anxiety, trust issues and insomnia.
"We do not condone or promote any form of abuse," Provo Canyon School CEO Adam McLain told USA TODAY in a statement, noting that the school changed ownership in 2000 and could not comment "on the operations or patient experience prior to that time."
In the almost two-hour film, Hilton doesn't hold back when exploring topics such as the scary side of social media, the reality-show image that masks her true identity, and her resilience as a businesswoman.
Here are her most powerful quotes from the film that promises to reveal the real Paris Hilton – the one not seen in the tabloids or on TV.
'We're all survivors': Paris Hilton alleges widespread abuse at her former school in new documentary
'Travel all around the world, and I've seen nothing'
The glamorous hotel rooms she's stayed in and the luxury stores she's shopped at aren't enough to buy Hilton her happiness.
'My mom just wanted me to be a Hilton, I wanted to be Paris'
As part of a high-profile family, Hilton recalls growing up with etiquette classes and high expectations from her parents, but the TV icon had a different image of herself.
While her mother wanted her to be "proper," "private" and "perfect" like a princess, Hilton just wanted to be herself.
'I always had a plan'
In tears, Hilton emotionally reflects on how she initially wished to "live up to" Grace Kelly or Marilyn Monroe, but leaked sex tapes with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon took away the future she had planned for herself.
Though some considered the highly publicized incident as her "blueprint to become famous," she says she "didn't need to do that" and "always had a plan" to build her brand through hard work.
'Anything that tries to control me can't have room in my life'
Whether it's her parents or ex-boyfriends, Hilton is adamant about maintaining her freedom and independence.
'I'm posting all these really happy quotes and amazing photos, but deep down, I just felt kind of trapped'
When Hilton and now ex-fiancé Chris Zylka called off their engagement in 2018, fans were shocked, partly because their relationship seemed perfect online. Hilton reminds that social media is a highlight reel – only a snippet of what's going on behind the scenes.
'The only thing that saved my sanity was thinking about what I wanted to do and who I wanted to become when I got out of there'
How did Paris Hilton get to where she is today?
A teary Hilton alleges a traumatizing experience in solitary confinement at Provo Canyon School, and says she kept her head up, despite being scared, angry and hungry, by fantasizing about being successful and making a brand for herself.
'I am afraid to grow up'
With her signature high-pitched voice and youthful persona, Hilton says that losing her childhood is the reason she holds on to this whimsical character.
'I wanted love so bad that I was willing to accept being hit or yelled at or screamed or strangled'
Hilton says she endured unacceptable behaviors from past boyfriends because she confused tough love with abuse. "I was just so lost and desperate for love," she says.
'I can't even imagine being a 13-year-old girl today'
The original influencer has an ambivalent relationship with social media, and claims that while she's known for her iconic selfies, she feels responsible for the young girls today who "can't even look at themselves on the phone without putting a filter."
'I created this fantasy world cartoon ... I've hardly worn any of these shoes. I love just chilling in my sweatsuits, my socks'
Hilton is the queen of extravagance, but off-camera, she's one of us: a homebody who loves her sweats.
As she walks around in her massive shoe closet, she admits that the material glamour isn't representative of who she is.
