Own All of Road & Track

1947–2022 road track library
R&T Magazine CollectionBring A Trailer

Road & Track has been around for, like, three-quarters of a century. That’s 75 years and counting. Literally thousands of stories. Here’s a chance to own examples of the paper R&T things. A full 852 issues produced by hundreds of staffers stretching back to the heady days right after World War II. If that’s not every issue of the magazine stretching from 1947 to 2022, it’s close.

Amazingly, every issue has been amazing. Which is an amazing thing to write.

Up on Bring a Trailer
, which sits alongside R&T in the Hearst Autos corporate brotherhood, is this private seller auction of R&T’s past and present. There’s no reserve on the auction, and the current bidding is at $1200.

“This library of Road & Track magazines was assembled by the seller over a period of 55 years and is said to comprise 852 issues published between 1947 and 2022,” states the listing. “The collection includes the first six issues, which were published between 1947 and 1949. Subsequent issues from 1950 through December 2022 are said to be part of the package, and issues published between 1951 and 1965 are stored in Road & Track–branded protective binders. This library of Road & Track magazines is offered at no reserve by the seller in San Jose, California.”

This auction isn’t run by R&T or associated with it. But what is appreciated around here are the nice comments that accompany the listing. It’s not only good to be loved, but it reminds everyone here of the standard to which we must live up. That’s kind of daunting.

Bring a Trailer is also owned by Road & Track's parent company, Hearst Autos.
