- I have a picture my head of a place. I don't know if it's real. But it has a feeling. And the feeling;s real.

ETHAN ALTER: Well, this is a movie that obviously concerns alternate realities. So are you someone who subscribes to the alternate reality worldview?

OWEN WILSON: I'm definitely open to it. I was saying that I had never even heard the idea that we might be in a simulation until a few years ago when I think Elon Musk said something, and there was a New York Times thing about it. And then all of a sudden working on this movie. And then with the crazy year that we've had.

I mean, who's to say? Things do start to sort of feel dream-like.

ETHAN ALTER: I know you're not someone who's on social media very much, but your co-star Salma Hayek is a certified Instagram star. Did she give you any pointers on how to get into the social media game?

OWEN WILSON: Well, it's funny because she's not really a techie, she'll be the first to admit. But, yet, I guess she's embraced that, Instagram. And I don't know. Am I missing out? Do I need to get on this?

ETHAN ALTER: I think you do. I think we need to have you on here. Fun.

OWEN WILSON: OK. Yes.

ETHAN ALTER: [LAUGHS] What sort of things do you think you'd post if you were on Instagram? You know, she does lots of different things. Do you have something in mind?

OWEN WILSON: I guess it's like-- it would be easy to do photographs and, you know-- but, you know, how many-- do we need more pictures of sunsets and rainbows and vistas? And sometimes I would like to see someone try to do the most boring, you know, picture ever just a chain link fence with, you know, like a sort of leaf in the background.

But even as I start to describe it, maybe that could be beautiful.

[LAUGHTER]

ETHAN ALTER: Who knows, right? Who knows what people pick up on?

OWEN WILSON: Right.

ETHAN ALTER: But what was it like for the two of you? This is one of your first times working with Salma. How did you sort of fall into your rhythm on screen? You have a really nice dynamic. How did you get along together?

OWEN WILSON: You know, you never quite know how you're gonna get along. I'm pretty good at getting along with people. But with Salma, I think just right from the beginning when the director and I spoke with her, is just an original person. And the way that kind of her mind works, and she's a strong personality.

And she's just very charming. You can't-- I found myself a lot of times like, oh, I got to write that down. Another funny thing Salma said.

- I'm taking you someplace to talk.

- Well, I don't like to talk.

- But you do like to lie, which you just did. Because we both know you love to talk.

ETHAN ALTER: You sort of set the internet on fire a little bit when the first pictures from "Loki" of you debuted. You had a new look that no one had really seen before.

OWEN WILSON: Yeah.

ETHAN ALTER: Did you-- how'd you arrive at that look? What was that-- what's the story behind that?

OWEN WILSON: You know, it was kind of-- I think being sort of part of the Marvel universe, and I think it always makes it easier when you're acting. I mean, it's a little bit make believe, of course. So dressing up, putting on a costume.

And, you know, when you kind of can change your hair and the way that people usually see you and the way you see yourself, it makes it just a little bit easier to feel that you're someone different. And so-- yeah, I think that the character Mobius that I play in "Loki" I think definitely is a different look for me.

ETHAN ALTER: I think I can do your Instagram, the different looks of your Marvel character. Just model different ones.

OWEN WILSON: Yeah. Yeah.
