New biopic Midas Man has found its Cilla Black in Outlander actress Rosie Day.

The upcoming film follows the story of music manager Brian Epstein, who oversaw acts such as Black and famously helped to launch The Beatles to global fame, earning the nickname the 'Fifth Beatle'.

Day, who plays Mary Hawkins in Outlander and has also appeared in Good Omens and McDonald & Dodds, will play the iconic singer and future Blind Date host.

Black was previously played by Sheridan Smith in ITV's Cilla, which attracted huge ratings for the broadcaster when it aired back in 2014.

The real singer passed away in 2015, though praised Smith before the series aired, telling Digital Spy: "I love her. She's fabulous. We went to dinner and I gave her my cell phone number.

"I said, 'If you ever fall down on anything and you want a little of advice', but she hasn't phoned me yet, so everything must be going swimmingly."

Midas Man will be released in 2022.
