Oscar Voter Criticises Leonardo DiCaprio Campaign, Calls It ‘A Ridiculous Performance’

It’s pretty much a certainty that Leonardo DiCaprio is going to claim the Best Actor gong at the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday for his performance in ‘The Revenant’.

In fact, if he doesn’t, it will be one of the biggest surprises in Oscars history. Not everyone is happy that Leonardo DiCaprio is such a lock for the Best Actor prize though.

One Oscar voter has now even come out and vehemently voiced his disdain for Leonardo DiCaprio’s portrayal in ‘The Revenant’, as well as his Oscar campaign, telling The Hollywood Reporter that it is a “ridiculous performance.”

The Oscar voter explained, “I rule out Leonardo immediately because it’s a ridiculous performance. They are running his campaign based on how hard it was to make the movie, right?”

“I’m tired of hearing about it – that’s what he gets paid for! I mean, this wasn’t ‘Nanook Of The North’, for Christ’s sake. Give me a break. He got millions of dollars, and I would assume they had heaters. The fact that he’s never won before? He’s a young man, he still has time.”

The obviously rather passionate Oscar voter, who is only described as a longtime voter that’s not associated with any of this year’s nominees, didn’t just lambast Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance, he revealed that he disliked ‘The Revenant’ “intensely.”

Why? Well, to him, it was simply a “beautifully shot Road Runner movie” that just repeatedly saw Leonardo DiCaprio fall down over and over again, but that it failed to resonate in any way.

Unfortunately for the above Oscar voter, ‘The Revenant’ is a firm favourite to turn quite a few of its 12 nominations into gongs at the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday, which will be hosted by Chris Rock and will start at around 1:30am GMT.
