Oscar Isaac endorses Finn-Poe fan coupling, says StormPilot 'would make nice babies'

Count Oscar Isaac among those Star Wars fans out there who enjoy the idea of Resistance partners Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Isaac) becoming life partners too.

“I think it’s beautiful,” Isaac told Yahoo Entertainment during the press day for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (watch above) after we asked him for his thoughts on the fantasy coupling. The actor, who was joined by Laura Dern, added, “They’d make nice babies.”

And Isaac isn’t going to let the fact that, in our contemporary galaxy, it’s biologically impossible for the two men otherwise known as StormPilot to procreate. “It could be [possible] in this galaxy far, far away. These guys are freaking aliens. We don’t know. We don’t know how it works down there,” he said.

StormPilot is one of the two romantic pairings that dominate current Star Wars fan fiction, right up there with Reylo, which imagines Daisy Ridley ‘s Rey and Adam Driver ‘s Kylo Ren putting aside their differences to match up.

Ridley told Yahoo Entertainment in 2016 that she also supported the fan pairings given the discussions they started. “It’s kind of amazing to me, because it’s young people that have been talking about it,” she said. “These 12-, 13-year-old girls and boys are having these really interesting conversations about abuse and manipulation and chemistry and connection. So it’s actually kind of eye-opening.”

For now, such Star Wars couplings exist solely in the minds of fanfic followers and meme makers. At Star Wars Celebration in May, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy put to rest any idea that Finn would wake up from that coma he suffered in The Force Awakens with a pining Poe by his side.

But who knows, maybe that love will manifest in future storylines. After all, it was just announced that writer-director Rian Johnson will helm an entirely new trilogy with all new characters. Maybe those characters will just so happen to be The Spawn of StormPilot.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens Dec. 15.
