Chloé Zhao's Oscars frontrunner Nomadland is heading to Disney+ in the UK and Ireland.

Following on from the film's Golden Globes victory at the weekend, in which it bagged the prizes for both Best Director and Best Motion Picture (Drama), Searchlight Pictures has announced that it will be available to stream on the platform from Friday, April 30.

It confirmed that subscribers will be able to watch it at no additional charge on Disney+'s new Star channel, and that it will receive a theatrical rollout once cinemas open up again.

Based on the Jessica Bruder book of the same name, Nomadland follows Fern, a woman who packs up all of her belongings in a van and sets off on the road, exploring a life outside of conventional society, after the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri's Frances McDormand fronts the project, while David Strathairn (The Bourne Ultimatum), and real-life wanderers Swankie, Bob Wells and Linda May round out the cast.

Before picking up a couple of gongs at the Golden Globes, the movie was awarded the People's Choice Audience Award at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, and the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice International Film Festival, too.

It will now be hoping for Oscars glory at the 2021 Academy Awards on April 25.

Zhao is also behind one of Marvel's next MCU movies, Eternals, which is due for release on November 5.

Nomadland will be available on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland from April 30.
