What one Arizona resort-style home offers wealthy Californians looking to leave state

If you’re planning to pack up and leave California, but want to keep up that sunny indoor/outdoor lifestyle — and youhave $7 million handy — a stunning home for sale near Phoenix, Arizona, might fit the bill.

Newly and sensationally redesigned as an entertainer’s dream, the property at the end of a Paradise Valley cul-de-sac sits on roughly 1.7 acres, with an 8,434-square-foot main residence and a 1,208-square-foot guest house.

The sellers, Lynsie Olsen and Juan Corsillo, put in $2.5 million into the home, according to The Agency real estate firm. They bought the home in April 2021 for $1.89 million, and it’s listed at $6.95 million.

An estimated 60,000 Californians moved to Arizona within the past year, according to data from Greater Phoenix Economic Council. Some 63% of residents who are considering exiting the Golden State have their eyes on the Grand Canyon State to the south, the council estimates.

“Arizona buyers want a home that can be equally lived in both inside and out as our weather eight months a year is sunny and moderate,” said Olsen, who is also the listing agent with The Agency. “This home has a myriad of features and amenities both indoors and out to make both spaces ideal year-round. In designing this remodel, we wanted to perfect the floor plan by making areas of the home multi-functional for this indoor/outdoor living.”

For the golfer, there’s a 130-yard, par 3 golf course that’s just the beginning of the entertainment opportunities.

“The guest house kitchen and living room doubles as a bar/kitchen for the pool while the dining room was intentionally placed between the indoor and outdoor kitchen to provide an eating area for cooking either inside or out.,” Lynsie said in an email response to the Sacramento Bee. “Another unique feature of this home is the 130-yard par 3 golf course, custom-designed with sand bunkers and two undulating greens. A golfer’s dream.”

The outdoor living area features a relaxing outdoor patio space, lush landscaping, an oversized pool, and infinity edge jacuzzi.

Behind the 10-foot solid wood front door of the main residence is a striking grand entry with a large office/den and a spacious great room with wood beams. There are floor-to-ceiling fireplaces in the space. The great room leads to the outdoor patio.

A luxurious primary suite includes a spa-like bathroom with an oversized soaking tub and 16-foot, marble-tiled walk-in shower. The spa-like bathroom has dual vanities, his-and-her water closets and a hidden safe room.

An amenity that makes you wonder why it’s not seen more often, a full-sized washer/dryer sits inside the well-lit custom walk-in closet.

The kitchen features two oversize islands, a hidden butler’s pantry, custom cabinetry and a formal dining area with a refrigerated 800-bottle wine room.

An open floor plan contains a second primary suite with private terrace, gym, and a media/game room. The garage has room for up to six cars and a 500-square-foot climate-controlled workshop.

The guest quarters contain a full kitchen and living room and doubles as a pool house.

However, it’s the outdoor space that sets the home apart.

“Residents will never want to leave this rare and secluded wonderland,” according to the property listing. “Unique and joyful, this estate is a treasure that will offer beauty, exploration, and leisure to everyone who sets foot on its magnificent grounds.”

Beyond the golf course, there’s a 200-square-foot covered pergola overlooking the pool, an area built for horseshoes and corn hole, a gazebo. The guest house living/entertaining area opens up to the pool and recreation area. The guest house has dual-covered patios on both sides allowing for shade and comfort in the Arizona sun while enjoying the outdoors.

Paradise Valley is a luxury community, with golf courses, shops and restaurants, near the larger metropolitan cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale. It is Arizona’s wealthiest municipality, according to The Agency. Most of its lot sizes are one acre or larger. The most expensive homes sell near the $20 million price point.
