PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew is back for the third year in a row to bring us a Halloween flavor! Although it goes by the same name, VooDew, as it has in previous years, the flavor will be different. It’s time to try to guess the chilling flavor once again.

In 2019, the VooDew flavor turned out to be candy corn, and in 2020 it was fruity candy explosion. Both were extremely appropriate for the holiday, wouldn’t you agree? So that would be something to keep in mind as your taste buds start exploring what the 2021 version will be.

You’ll be able to get the Mountain Dew VooDew beginning on Aug. 30, 2021 at participating retailers across the U.S., a PR rep confirmed to Best Products. The 20-ounce bottles and 12-ounce cans will only be around while supplies last, so make sure you stock up for Halloween sipping!

While Halloween feels like it’s forever away, we’ll all be in the spooky spirit in just 6 months. Thanks to Reddit, a photo of Mountain Dew’s Halloween VooDew flavor for 2021 has been leaked before summer has even begun. Does anyone else feel like gorging themselves in candy and watching Hocus Pocus?

To catch you up to speed, PepsiCo first released Mountain Dew VooDew in 2019 and it left us all to guess the mystery flavor, which ended up being candy corn. VooDew returned in 2020, but with a new mystery flavor to guess, and it turned out to be fruity candy explosion. We’re noticing a candy theme here, but there’s no telling if the 2021 soda will follow suit.

Instead of the purple or red packaging that graced the cans and bottles in previous years, the new version is blue. According to Reddit/u/AdmiralOink4, the account that posted the photo, it has a “Generic sweet ass candy flavor” that they can’t really decipher. It looks like we’ll have to try the murky white soda ourselves come October.

For those asking how the Mountain Dew VooDew 3.0 got leaked, well, it tends to happen by the hand of PepsiCo employees or those who know someone who works for the company. Advanced product is made available and while we’re sure there’s some sort of hush-hush rule, sometimes it winds up on Reddit. Keep in mind, however, that there’s no guarantee that the soda is actually hitting shelves until the brand says so.
