Off Their Game Week 12 - Melvin Gordon

Andy Behrens explains why the Broncos RB could have issues vs. the Saints in Week 12.

ANDY BEHRENS: All right, let the record show that I selected Melvin Gordon for this segment, before we knew a practice squad wide receiver was going to be the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. And I feel equally good about the call now. First of all, the match-up was always going to be terrible.

It's New Orleans. That defense, so far this season, allowing just 3.3 yards per carry, only about 74 rushing yards per week. Gordon has basically been running in a tandem with Phillip Lindsay. He played barely over 50% of the snaps a week ago. It was a big week for him, but not playing a ton of snaps.

Now, we throw in the fact that-- and listen, I know a lot of you are excited about the running game. Because you're like, aha, terrible quarterback, that's got to be good for the running game. No.

It's not good if you imagine that this team can't possibly score more than, say six points, nine points. I mean, if there's an offensive touchdown in this game for the Denver Broncos, it will be an absolute triumph. Maybe Gordon will score it. But I'm not expecting a big total out of Denver, here.
