North Texas basketball headed to NIT Final Four in Las Vegas after win over Oklahoma State

North Texas is going to the Final Four.

OK, not that Final Four. But the NIT Final Four.

The Mean Green beat Oklahoma State 65-59 on Tuesday to advance to the NIT semifinals, which will be held in Las Vegas on March 28.

North Texas will face Wisconsin in the semifinals. The other side of the bracket is not yet complete. Vanderbilt faces UAB, and Cincinnati faces Utah Valley on Wednesday night. The two winners advance to the Final Four and will also play on March 28.

The Mean Green (28-7) advanced through the NIT by beating Alcorn, 69-53, and Sam Houston State, 75-55. They led Oklahoma State 24-17 at halftime, but the Cowboys battled back to tie the game at 55 with 1:14 remaining in regulation. Neither team scored the rest of regulation.

North Texas outscored Oklahoma State 10-4 in overtime.

Moulaye Sissoko had 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Coach Grant McCasland’s team finished in second place in Conference USA with a 16-4 record.
