New Line Is ‘Single At The Wedding’ With Alex Richanbach; Filmmaker To Direct & Produce Rom-Com

EXCLUSIVE: Ibiza filmmaker Alex Richanbach is set to direct and produce Single at the Wedding through his Something Something Pictures at New Line.

Anne Sundell wrote the script on spec from an original idea and developed alongside Richanbach. In Single at the Wedding, Allie is the last single one of her friends. She makes it her mission to find love at her best friend’s wedding with the help of a list of available men, but it turns out she has competition in the form of the groom’s perfect sister.

Richanbach began his career at Funny or Die as a writer/director/producer. His debut feature film We Are Young was released by Funny or Die in 2013. Following Funny Or Die, Richanbach directed the Netflix feature film, Ibiza, written by Lauryn Kahn and produced by Gary Sanchez and Good Universe. The movie stars Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer, Phoebe Robinson, and Richard Madden and follows a young American woman and her two best friends as they seek out a hot DJ in Spain. Richanbach also has films in development with Point Grey & Hartbeat. Additionally, he has directed award winning commercials starring Julia Roberts, Kevin Hart, Will Smith, Demi Lovato, Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, DJ Khaled and many others.

Richanbach is repped by UTA, Mosaic and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman, Rubenstein, Kohner, Endlich, Goodell & Gellman.

Sundell is an LA-based writer who is also known to be a semi-pro wedding attendee (24 weddings and 11 bachelorettes in four years). She cut her teeth as an assistant at Sony Pictures Television and left with a blind script deal with their comedy team. Sundell has an original feature in development at Netflix and has sold two comedy pilots to CBS and one to Roku with Ilana Peña. Sundell is repped by UTA and 3 Arts.
