George and Amal Clooney Make Awards Show Debut
The Clooneys have taken Hollywood.
The couple, who tied the knot in September, made their award show debut at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. Dressed in black (a tux for him, a Dior Haute Couture strapless gown for her with a scarf and white gloves), they looked like Hollywood royalty. As for those gloves, they were from her own closet with her husband quipping to E! News’s Ryan Seacrest, “She sewed them this morning.”
Of note, both George, 53, and Amal, 36, wore pins in honor of those lost in the Paris attacks.
Leading up to the show, there was big buzz over whether the high-profile attorney and activist would be in attendance with her husband, who will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award during the show. Needless to say, red carpet watchers, who couldn’t get enough of their Venice nuptials, were delighted to see her on his arm.
On the NBC pre-show, Amal, 36, talked about how it was her first Golden Globes and apologized for bringing the British weather with her. She went on to say that she was “really proud” of her husband and was just happy to be there.
When Savannah Guthrie reminded Clooney that Globe co-hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey poked fun at him at a previous show for his bachelor lifestyle and how he vowed never again to marry, the always-witty actor cracked that he didn’t tie the knot “just to show them.”
Over the weekend, a Yahoo Style editor saw Amal prepping for her first post-wedding red carpet with her husband. The London-based lawyer was seen visiting a tailor in Los Angeles accompanied by a man carrying garment bags. Now we know what was inside — and it’s fabulous.
