Dennis Quaid's 'Meltdown' Was a Funny or Die Prank

Well, you were right to be cynical: The Dennis Quaid “meltdown” video was, indeed, a prank — this time, courtesy of Funny or Die.

On Tuesday, when a shaky clip emerged of the Far From Heaven actor erupting into a volcano of outrage over on-set distractions, many assumed that Quaid was part of some semi-elaborate viral-video scheme. Suspicion deepened after it was announced that he was starring in a new show for Crackle, and internet chatter grew so loud that Jimmy Kimmel — he of several high-profile viral pranks — had to deny his involvement with the clip on his show Tuesday night.

The mystery loomed large over the American psyche until Wednesday afternoon, when it was revealed that Quaid had indeed orchestrated the meltdown as part of a very meta video for Funny or Die.

Just when you thought there was at least one trustworthy Quaid left in Hollywood…
