Deadpool & Wolverine has already set a huge ticket sales record.

The anticipated third movie in the Marvel franchise is due to hit cinema screens in July, and looks to be another hit for the comics powerhouse.

Ticket company Fandango has revealed that Deadpool & Wolverine has broken the record for best first-day ticket sales in 2024, and is also the best first-day pre-seller for the Deadpool franchise as a whole.

The movie will see Ryan Reynolds return as the Merc with a Mouth, with Hugh Jackman on board as Wolverine.

A recent trailer for the film also confirmed that Aaron Stanford will reprise his role of Pyro from the X-Men series in the film.

Speaking about the return, director Shawn Levy told Entertainment Weekly: "I'll say we didn't start off with a wish list. From the day we started devising this Deadpool & Wolverine story, we let the story dictate the characters, not the other way around.

"Aaron and his return as Pyro was an outgrowth of that, and that applies to pretty much all the characters you'll see in the movie."

It has also been confirmed by Marvel boss Kevin Feige that Jackman's Wolverine is a different incarnation to the one he played in the X-Men movies.

The producer further admitted he initially encouraged the actor not to return to the role after "the greatest ending in history with Logan".

However, Jackman recalled: "I was about an hour into the drive, and that question came into my head: 'What do I want to do?' And as soon as I asked the question, I wanted to do Deadpool & Wolverine. I just knew it.

"I drove for another hour. Couldn't stop thinking about it. And I got out of the car, called Ryan, and said, 'Ryan, if you'll have me, I'm in'."

Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are streaming on Disney+. Deadpool & Wolverine opens in cinemas on July 26.
