Chinese Building Modelled After the USS Enterprise From Star Trek

Not to stoke Star Trek-Star Wars rivalry fire, but this is even cooler than the recently unveiled R2-D2 plane.

A Chinese gaming and mobile Internet company has built its headquarters in the style of the USS Enterprise.

You can get a good look at the new building from the drone-captured footage here (just try not to mind the weird ambient soundtrack).

Mashable reports that NetDragon chairman Liu DeJian is such an “uberTrekkie” (uberTrekker?) that he laid a fat wad of cash ($160 million) to have the building constructed in the ship’s likeness after making a deal with CBS, which, along with Paramount, owns Trek’s licensing rights.

The slick new digs for NetDragon were constructed between 2008 and 2014.

Of course, there have been multiple iterations of the Enterprise over the years (i.e., the NX-01, the A, the D, the E, etc.) so it’s debatable which model was the specific reference point for this design.

But does it really matter? This building wins regardless.
