'Star Wars' Star John Boyega to Haters: "Get Used to It"

Boyega, 22, whose scene in the film’s teaser trailer led to some online criticism of a black Stormtrooper, appeared to address those comments on his Instagram page Saturday.

"To whom it may concern … Get used to it," he wrote. After that sentence, he included a smiley-face emoticon.

Boyega, who starred in 2011’s "Attack the Block," also thanked fans for their positive feedback.

“Thank you for all the love and support,” Boyega’s message read. “I’m in the movie, but as a Star Wars fan, I’m very excited.”

This is not the first time that a film’s casting has led to racially charged remarks from fans.

When the cast of the first Hunger Games film was revealed, there was online chatter about the character Rue being played by a black actress. More recently, Rupert Murdoch defended the all-white cast of Exodus: Gods and Kings, which features Egyptian characters.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver and hits theaters Dec. 17, 2015.
