‘Cruel Intentions’ Stars Stage a High School Reunion

Fans of juicy ‘90s-era high-school dramas about backstabbing prep school teenagers (that’s all of us, right?) got a special treat late Thursday. That’s because Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellat and Selma Blair shared pics of their recent night out. The stars of the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions had a mini-reunion that was made even better by the location of their hangout: a showing of Cruel Intentions the Musical in LA, a parody stage show based on their cult classic movie.

A trio from "Cruel Intentions" reunited on Thursday night for what Reese Witherspoon called the "Best girls night of the year!!!" The Oscar winner was joined by her co-stars from the 1999 drama, Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar, to take in "The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Cruel Intentions" at The Rockwell Table & Stage in Los Feliz, California. Lucky for us, the fun-loving gal pals shared a slew of pics from the evening.

Wrote Witherspoon on Instagram: “Best girls night of the year!!! #cruelintentions”

From Gellar’s Instagram#Manifesto you know what that means, it’s a #BittersweetSymphony this life@reesewitherspoon@therealselmablair#cruelintentionsmusical #CruelIntentions

Blair and Gellar even recreated their famous on-screen smooch that won them an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. Wrote Blair: “Back with my girl @sarahmgellar. Still my favorite kiss.#bittersweetsymphony”

If Cruel Intentions — a Dangerous Liaisons reimagining that follows the sexual and romantic exploits of rich Manhattan teens — is a fond memory for fans of a certain age, it certainly seems to hold a special place for its stars. Just last year, costar Ryan Phillippe reminisced about shooting the movie with his then-girlfriend and future wife Witherspoon. The couple divorced in 2007, but when they crossed paths in New York last year, he told HuffPo Live, they took their two kids on a Cruel Intentions-inspired walk through Central Park. “They were tripping out on the fact that we were there shooting a movie before they were even a thought in our minds.”
