New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Teasers Give Us a Taste of the Action

As if a new poster wasn’t enough of a Sunday treat, the fine folks at Lucasfilm and Disney have dropped a few more teaser-filled morsels for detail-hungry Star Wars fans to nibble on ahead of Monday night’s big new trailer premiere.

In three short clips from the upcoming trailer that were posted to Twitter, we get a look at our three main new heroes: Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Rey (Daisy Ridley). Oh, and BB-8 gets a taste of the spotlight, too.

The first clip, embedded above, takes place on what seems to be an air base run by the Resistance (the new good guys), on a planet that is just about as leafy and green as Endor, the moon where the finale of Return of the Jedi took place. Poe, who has been declared “the best damn pilot in the galaxy” by Isaac, climbs out of his X-Wing and shares a brief moment with Finn, as other pilots flock to their ships.

Of note: Though Finn holds a lightsaber in the new poster, here he’s carrying a blaster, which shows off his dangerous range as a fighter. The kid’s got a lot of ways to fight against the First Order.

In the second teaser, above, we get a more generic tease of our new heroes — and the big villain. It’s the same footage of Finn as the previous teaser, and the adorable peekaboo shot of BB-8 that delighted us so many months ago. Kylo Renn (Adam Driver), too, is glimpsed in footage that has already been seen. Meanwhile, Rey looks contemplative on Jakku, while Poe looks up into the night sky, blaster in hand.

And, in the third and potentially leaked clip, Rey looks up to see TIE Fighters — and some new ship that we also see in the poster — tear across the sky.

We can’t glean much from these teasers — other than the fact that at some point, there will be a big fight with X-Wings and Finn may be involved — but worry not: the big trailer will air on ESPN during Monday Night Football in just over 24 hours.
