Never enough Colleen Hoover: BookTok favorite tops best sellers list alongside Kelly Ripa

No, you're not seeing double on this week's USA TODAY's Best Selling Books list. Well, maybe you are.

"Verity," Colleen Hoover's novel about a struggling writer who is hired to complete the works of a permanently injured author, appears to have made the list twice, first at No. 1 and then No. 3. Though not exactly twice. The former is a collector's edition while the latter is the original version; the collector's edition includes a gold foil cover and letter from the author as well as an added chapter exclusive to this edition

The prolific author has had four books claim the top spot this year: "Reminders of Him," "It Ends With Us," "Verity" and "Verity: Collector's Edition."

2022 has been a very good year for Hoover, who has written half of the top 10 books in sales and has had a total of 15 titles on the list in a single week this summer; this week, her tally is 13.

And there is no sign of her slowing down. Hoover's next novel, "It Starts With Us," the follow-up to her bestselling "It Ends With Us," is set to publish on Oct. 18.

Kelly Ripa's 'Live Wire' tops nonfiction

Kelly Ripa's memoir "Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories" (Dey Street Books, 320 pp.) is the top nonfiction title on this week's list at No. 5.

Ripa displays her irreverent humor and conversational prose in the book which brims with slice-of-life stories about her longtime marriage to "All My Children" co-star Mark Consuelos and raising their three kids: Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19.

In a USA TODAY interview with Patrick Ryan, Ripa gets candid about co-hosting the morning show "Live!" with Regis Philbin for a decade until he retired in 2011, and about the nature of their friendship - or rather, lack thereof

"It was somehow this false narrative that I had abandoned someone that I was very close to – that we were best friends and I had abandoned him. And none of that was true," Ripa says. "We had a very professional, working relationship. I enjoyed listening to him tell his stories more than anyone. I loved that part of the show because it was not work at all. But to solely put the responsibility of maintaining a friendship that didn't really exist (on me) ... I have long-term friendships with all sorts of people I've worked with and nobody asks me about them ever."

USA TODAY's Brian Truitt – film critic and King aficionado – gave the novel ★★★½ (out of four), saying the novel "will win your heart as much as King’s past efforts have unnerved your soul." It became an instant bestseller upon its September release, hitting No. 1 in its first week.
