The Noel Diary fans have taken to Twitter to criticise one of the storylines, pointing out the *slightly* suspect adultery theme going on.

While we've all been distracted by Falling For Christmas, Netflix quietly dropped another festive film in the shape of The Noel Diary. Starring Justin Hartley from This Is Us, the official synopsis explains, "When a best-selling author returns home at Christmas to settle his mother's estate, he finds a diary that holds secrets to the past."

What that summary fails to explain, though, is the, er, fairly dubious plot point, which involves Rachel (played by Barrett Doss) basically cheating on her partner.

As one viewer put it, "So The Noel Diary is about someone cheating on their fiancée they don't have the balls to break up with and it's somehow supposed to be a romantic feel good Christmas movie? Lol"

Someone else put, "The Noel Diary - this would have been a fine romance except without the cheating element. That ruined all the sweet moments" while a third added, "The Noel Diary on @netflix is quite possibly one the worst movies I’ve ever seen. How/why try to make the two protagonists scumbag assholes? The lady cheating on her fiancé? Just a wild story line..."

Well, each to their own, but maybe a festive romance with a slice of cheating isn't the way to everyone's Christmas feels? Still, the movie has shot straight into Netflix's top 10 most watched, so maybe there's a happy ending after all.
