New on Netflix in August: Paris Hilton cooks, 'Kissing Booth' ends, a Bob Ross doc debuts

Summer might be waning, but Netflix is still heating things up with new titles.

In August, the streaming platform gets nostalgic with a remake of the 1999 teen flick "She's All That." Aughts "it girl" Paris Hilton causes a stir in the kitchen, cooking in couture. A battle for painter Bob Ross' legacy plays out in a documentary, one of three that made our list of this month's noteworthy titles. Others: "Pray Away," which looks at the consequences of gay "conversion therapy," and "Untold," which examines the lesser-known tales of sports icons and events.

Netflix also offers new, feel-good programming and thrillers. Here are 10 noteworthy series and features in chronological order:

'Pray Away' (Aug. 3)

Ryan Murphy executive produces this documentary, which interviews survivors and former leaders of the gay "conversion therapy" movement. The film conveys how the practice damages the LGBTQ community.

'Cooking with Paris' (Aug. 4)

The next time heiress/entrepreneur Paris Hilton utters her catchphrase "That's hot," she might be referring to a pre-heated oven. The "Simple Life" star attempts to improve her cooking skills in this tongue-in-cheek cooking show that features her famous friends, including Kim Kardashian West and rapper Saweetie.

'Untold' (Aug. 10)

The creators of "Wild Wild Country" launch the first of a five-episode weekly sports docuseries Aug. 10, with additional episodes to be released weekly. The show offers a deep dive into some of the sports world's biggest moments and figures, like the story of Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner or the mental health challenges of retired tennis star Mardy Fish.

'The Kissing Booth 3' (Aug. 11)

Graduating senior Elle Evans (Joey King) plans to maximize her last months before college with the help of a bucket list in the final installment of the film trilogy. She also has to figure out what the future holds for her relationships with boyfriend Noah Flynn (Jacob Elordi) and bestie Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney).

'Beckett' (Aug. 13)

John David Washington leads the action film as an American tourist who finds his life is at risk following an accident that pulls him into a political conspiracy. Alicia Vikander also stars.

'The Chair' (Aug. 20)

Sandra Oh stars in this new half-hour comedy from writer-producer Amanda Peet as Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the first female of color to chair the fictional Pembroke University's struggling English department. The series also features Jay Duplass and Holland Taylor.

'Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed' (Aug. 25)

Artist Bob Ross, host of PBS' "The Joy of Painting" in the '80s and '90s, soothed viewers while instructing them on how to create works of art. But not everything relating to Ross' world is sunny. A fight for his empire is exposed in this documentary.

'Clickbait' (Aug. 25)

A family is rocked when a member of its clan, Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier, "Entourage"), goes missing and shows up in an instantly viral video, in which Nick holds signs that read: "I abuse women. At 5 million views I die." Nick's sister Pia (Zoe Kazan) and his wife Sophie (Betty Gabriel) discover new facets of Nick's life while trying to rescue him in this thriller limited series.

'He's All That' (Aug. 27)

Alexa, play "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer. The plot of the 1999 rom-com starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook is revisited, only this time a popular girl (singer and social media personality Addison Rae) tries to get an unpopular boy (Tanner Buchanan) crowned prom king.

'Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo' (Aug. 31)

"Sparking joy" organizer Marie Kondo brings her philosophy to the workplace, assisting three offices and employees on a mission to restructure aspects of their lives. The new series also shines a line of Kondo's home life with her family.
