Netflix is adapting David Nicholls' best-selling novel One Day into a series, and we couldn't be more excited. The streaming service announced the news all the way back in 2021, and we've been waiting with baited breath for our Dexter and Emma ever since.
So, here's everything we know about One Day, from the release date to cast and more.
Do we have a One Day trailer yet?
Certainly do! On 8th January 2023, exactly a month before One Day drops on Netflix, the streaming service revealed our first proper look at Emma and Dexter in action. And yeah, this one hit us right in the feels:
Previously, on 30th November 2023, Netflix released seven first look photos of their Dexter and Emma, and it's safe to say we're obsessed. They added the caption, "Dex and Em. Em and Dex." with a heart emoji. Ugh.
What's One Day about?
The series is based on David Nicholls' best-selling book from 2009, which follows two protagonists - Dexter and Emma on one day every year, July 15th. The story begins with the pair at their final night at university and visits their changing relationship and lives for the same day every year for 20 years.
Netflix's official synopsis reads: "Based on the bestselling novel by David Nicholls. An epic, tragi-comic love story, every episode catches up with central characters Em and Dex on one particular day – 15th July – as they grow and change, move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak."
Who's in the One Day cast?
Netflix have cast Leo Woodall, who you'll recognise from The White Lotus season two, as Dexter, while This Is Going To Hurt's Ambika Mod takes on the role of Emma.
The novel already got the big screen treatment back in 2011 when it was adapted into a feature film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.
What is One Day's release date?
Of course Netflix would release their adaptation just days before Valentine's Day. Announcing the news on Twitteer, the streaming service said, "Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall star in One Day, based on the best-selling book. Coming 8th February 2024."
