Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Their First Date: 'Time Has Flown'
"If the next 7,300 days are like the previous ones, I’ll be absolutely thrilled," the 'How I Met Your Mother' actor wrote on Instagram
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka hit a milestone in their relationship on Monday.
The married pair marked 20 years since their first date on Instagram, celebrating their April 1 anniversary with a pair of photo posts, each featuring with loving captions.
"Our first date was 20 years ago today," wrote Harris, 50. "Man, how time has flown by… and yet… we’ve shared so many adventures, created so many remarkable memories."
"If the next 7,300 days are like the previous ones, I’ll be absolutely thrilled," the actor continued, before teasing Burtka. "Happy anniversary, David. I love you unconditionally, most of the time. XO."

Burtka, 48, also poked fun at his other half in his sweet post.
"My dreams have come true since we decided to take this incredible journey together," the chef and cookbook author wrote. "Today marks 20 years since our first date and I can’t imagine a better life."
"[Neil] I love you with all my soul," Burtka added. "I deserve a f---ing medal… and so do you."
Harris and Burtka's romance started their romance off as friends after meeting in passing on the street in 2004. At the time, Burtka had a boyfriend, but the relationship — he explained in a 2012 essay written for Out magazine — was already on the rocks. It ended shortly afterward.
The two went public with their relationship in 2007, months after Harris publicly came out as gay in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. Three years into dating, the two made their first joint red carpet appearance at the 2007 Emmy Awards.
A family came in 2010, when Harris and Burtka welcomed twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott.
The kids were by their side when Harris and Burtka wed in a private ceremony in Italy in 2014, years after the 2011 ruling that legalized gay marriage in New York.
Back in September, Harris and Burtka marked nine years of marriage with gushing Instagram posts. "9 years ago I married the love of my life… love is timeless!!," wrote Burtka, with Harris saying, "What a life. What a journey with you."
As for their April 1 first date, every year the two have honored the occasion on social media.
"19 years ago today I went on my first date with this man. Single greatest decision of my life," Harris captioned his post last year. "You are the ultimate, most astonishing roller coaster ride, and I can’t get enough. Thank you for believing in me, for believing in yourself, for believing in us. You’re the best husband, the best father, and my best friend."
"The good times have outweighed the bad enormously," said Burtka. "I am beyond grateful to take this wonderful journey with you. As we grow as people our relationship gets stronger. Thank you for being you, putting in the work & making us the best we can be. I am honored and ecstatic to be by your side."
