Neighbours' Toadie left concerned by new Melanie discovery

Neighbours spoilers follow for Australian and UK viewers.

Neighbours' Toadie Rebecchi and Melanie Pearson will face another setback in their relationship in upcoming scenes, as Toadie makes a worrying discovery about his partner.

Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Melanie (Lucinda Cowden)'s romance has been far from plain sailing so far, with the pair having argued over Toadie's desire to keep their connection a secret from his children and Melanie's impulsive behaviour.

Although they look to be back on track now, it seems that they'll be facing more trouble soon as a big secret from Melanie's past comes back to haunt her.

TV Week reports that, in upcoming scenes, Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone) will send out Melanie's discarded CV in order to try to find her a new job and prospective employers soon start to call Melanie's references. But Melanie's history with one of her former firms is rocky to say the least.

"Justin Buke is a big time lawyer who used to be Mel's boss," actress Lucinda said. "They had an affair and Justin's wife Anna found out, causing Mel to lose her job, some friends and pride. Mel decided to get back at them when they refused to pay her severance and it didn't go well."

When Anna receives a call about Melanie, she is furious that Melanie would try to use them as a reference. She soon turns up at Toadie's office to give Melanie a piece of her mind, reminding her of the restraining order that the couple have against her.

Melanie is left feeling embarrassed and upset by the encounter, while Toadie is shocked to hear about this unpleasant incident from Melanie's past.

"He thought he and Mel had an honest, open relationship," actor Ryan said. "Now, this brings up a lot of questions about Melanie's past that he was completely unaware of.

"He starts to question the sincerity of their relationship. He thought they were building something special together, but now wonders if this is just what Melanie does with all her bosses."

Could this be the end for Toadie and Melanie?
