The NCIS season 19 finale stirred a mix of emotions for fellow fans: What's going to happen to Parker (Gary Cole)? Is Gibbs (Mark Harmon) coming to the rescue? Are Knight (Katrina Law) and Palmer (Brian Dietzen) the real deal?

Luckily, NCIS is coming back with season 20, and we’ve got all the important details about what you can expect to see.

When is NCIS returning for season 20 on CBS?

NCIS season 20 will premiere on Monday, September 19 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. NCIS: Hawai’i will then follow at 10 p.m. ET.

Back in March, CBS renewed the entire NCIS franchise for new seasons, including the flagship show. Although major TV networks usually wait until May to announce which of their shows will be returning in the fall, CBS made a prompt decision that the Washington D.C.-based show would be back for a historic 20th season.

Actor Sean Murray, who plays Special Agent McGee, celebrated the exciting news on his Instagram. “Here we go again, baby... =) #ncis #season20,” he wrote alongside a promo photo.

Who will be in the NCIS season 20 cast?

Currently, we’re guessing the NCIS season 20 will feature:

  • Sean Murray as Timothy McGee

  • Wilmer Valderrama as Nick Torres

  • Katrina Law as Jessica Knight

  • Gary Cole as Alden Parker

  • Brian Dietzen as Dr. Jimmy Palmer

  • Diona Reasonover as Kasie Hines

  • Rocky Carroll as Leon Vance

  • David McCallum as Dr. Donald Mallard

As NCIS fans may have already figured out, there is still more to see of Parker's ex-wife Vivian Kolchak after the shocking season 19 finale. According to Deadline, actress Teri Polo will be a recurring character in NCIS season 20. This could mean that Parker's most recent storyline won't be wrapped up in the premiere.

During the last few moments of the finale episode, Parker and Vivian went into hiding together but not before she sent a suspicious text. “How’s it going?” a message read on her phone. “It’s done. I have him,” she wrote back. Unsurprisingly, many NCIS fans immediately took to Twitter with theories that Vivian had set up Parker. But for what? We don’t know.

Will Mark Harmon come back to NCIS?

After playing Special Agent in Charge Leroy Jethro Gibbs for 18 years, actor Mark Harmon left NCIS at the beginning of season 19. Sadly, in the fourth episode of NCIS season 19, Gibbs didn’t go back to work with the team and that was the end of his story … for now.

According to showrunner Steven D. Binder, there is always a possibility that Mark and his character could make a surprise return. So, when is Gibbs coming back? That's up to Mark but Steven knows that if and when he does ask to be featured again, it’ll have to be memorable.

“There’s always head space for him to come back. It just has to be the right story, I think, to get him excited about it and to get us excited about it,” the executive producer told TV Insider. “It’s a card to play, and I don’t think we want to play it cheaply. I think when we do play it, it really needs to be the right thing.”

How can I watch and stream NCIS?

New episodes of NCIS will air Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on CBS during the fall. Apart from the TV, you can also tune in via the CBS site or CBS app.

But you don’t have to have cable to watch live. Streaming services like YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and fuboTV are great alternatives. These three options offer free seven-day trials before asking you to commit to a subscription.

In case you can’t watch new episodes in real time, the Paramount+ website and Paramount+ app let you catch up anytime. Don’t have a login? Try out a free seven-day trial to start. Afterward, you’ll have a chance to continue the subscription for $4.99 per month.

Last but not least, NCIS is also available on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play and Vudu. If you happen to be waiting for NCIS’s newer seasons to debut on Netflix, there’s no intel about when this will happen. Right now, there are only 15 seasons on the service and it’s been like that for a while.
