Here is who national experts are predicting will win KC Chiefs-Indianapolis Colts game

Gus Bradley is in his first season as the Colts defensive coordinator, but he’ll see a team Sunday that he’s familiar with from his past stops in the NFL.

From 2017-20, Bradley was defensive coordinator for the Chargers, then he had the same role with the Raiders a year ago. Earlier this week, Bradley was asked about the challenge of facing quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

“I think there was a time when you played Kansas City and got in a shell and kept everything you can in front of you because there’s so many shots (down field), but I think they’ve done a really, really good job where they’re balanced in all those areas,” Bradley told reporters. “And on top of it, there’s a good run game, so they can affect you in many areas. So that’s the big thing about Kansas City.”

Can the Colts contain the Chiefs and come away with a victory?

Here is what 63 national NFL experts are saying about the game, which kicks off at noon and will be broadcast on KCTV (Ch. 5).

Each of the 10 Athletic writers predicted a Chiefs win: Jay Morrison, Josh Kendall, Michael-Shawn Dugar, Tashan Reed, Ben Standig, Larry Holder, Mark Kaboly, Zack Berman, Austin Mock and Nick Kosminder. Adam Gretz wrote about the matchup. Here is a passage from his story: “Patrick Mahomes had a bit of an off week (by his standards, anyway) in Week 2, but has still already thrown seven touchdowns and zero interceptions this season, while looking like a magician with the football in his hands when needed.”

The eight writers at CBS Sports think the Chiefs will win: Pete Prisco, Jason La Canfora, Will Brinson, Jared Dubin, John Breech, Dave Richard, Ryan Wilson and Jamey Eisenberg. Prisco predicts a 30-17 Chiefs win. He wrote: “The Colts are a mess right now. They have a lot of injury issues, but it’s the offensive line that is a major concern. The Chiefs have rolled up impressive numbers on offense, and will do so here. Look for another good game from Patrick Mahomes as the Colts stay winless.”

A 40-27 Chiefs victory is the forecast from NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal. He wrote: “Not only is Matt Ryan frazzled and harassed on a snap-to-snap basis, but Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley runs a defense that is easy to pick apart. Patrick Mahomes has plenty of practice doing it, including two 40-burgers on Bradley’s Raiders last season during an off year for the Chiefs’ offense. This is not shaping up to be an off year.”

A 30-27 Chiefs win is the prediction from Yardbarker’s Chris Mueller. Here is an excerpt: “The Chiefs might not have Tyreek Hill anymore, but they certainly seem to be finding their way offensively, and if Clyde Edwards-Helaire can continue to give them games like he did Thursday night, they’ll be a multi-faceted nightmare for opposing defenses.”

The Chiefs will win, say Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith and Mike Florio. Smith sees a 31-10 score. He wrote: ‘The Colts are a mess right now. I have a hard time seeing them even keeping it close against the Chiefs.” Florio sees a 41-17 final. He wrote: “The Chiefs once blew a huge lead during a playoff game in Indy. That won’t happen again.”

A 30-22 Chiefs win is the call from Bill Bender of the Sporting News. Here is a snippet from his story: “Patrick Mahomes II has nothing to prove. Six different Kansas City players have caught TDs this season. The Chiefs keep rolling.”

The Chiefs will win and cover the line, says the New York Times’ David Hill. This is from his story: “Kansas City gutted out a win against the Chargers last week, but failed to cover by a half point. The Colts have struggled to find an effective unit to build around, having tied the Texans and gotten shut out by the lowly Jaguars despite being favored in both games.”

A Chiefs win is the pick from three Pro Football Network reporters: Adam Beasley (35-20 final score), Dalton Miller (34-20) and Dallas Robinson (30-17). This is an excerpt of what Beasley wrote: “Kansas City has averaged 35.5 points per game on the season and has gained an average of 403.5 total yards of offense per game. They’re averaging 22.5 points given up on defense and 341.5 total yards. Meanwhile, the Colts are averaging 10 points per game and 367.5 yards of total offense. On defense, they are giving up 22 points per game and 315 yards.”

All nine of the pundits at ESPN see the Chiefs winning: Stephania Bell, Matt Bowen, Mike Clay, Jeremy Fowler, Domonique Foxworth, Dan Graziano, Jason Reid, Laura Rutledge and Seth Wickersham.

Each of the seven writers at USA Today think the Chiefs will get the win: Jarrett Bell (27-21 final score), Chris Bumbaca (31-25), Nate Davis (27-23), Safid Deen (42-20), Tyler Dragon (30-17), Parker Gabriel (38-24) and Lorenzo Reyes (31-19).

The five staff members at Sports Illustrated picked a Chiefs victory: Albert Breer, Mitch Goldich, Gary Grammling, Conor Orr and John Pluym.

The 10 members of the Dallas Morning-News see the Chiefs prevailing: Tim Cowlishaw, Michael Gehlken, Dana Larson, Damon Marx, Craig Miller, David Moore, Newy Scruggs, Kevin Sherrington, Calvin Watkins and Jean-Jacques Taylor.

All five Audacy writers went with the Chiefs: Tim Kelly, Jesse Pantuosco, Dan Mennella, John Healy and Logan Mullen.
