Naomi confirms WWE departure and reveals new nameWWE

Naomi has confirmed she's departed WWE, 10 months since she and the former Sasha Banks walked out of a live Raw taping.

While there's been plenty of speculation over Naomi's WWE status over the past couple of months, confirmation of her departure came in her Instagram comments section.

On Instagram Friday (March 24) Naomi (real name Trinity Fatu) announced she would be making an appearance at the WrestleCon convention on April 1 and 2, over WrestleMania weekend.

In the comments section, one fan asked: 'Girl….are you even still in WWE' to which Fatu responded, 'no frien [sic]'.

Since news of her WWE departure was made public, there have been reports on the name that Fatu may potentially use if she signs with another company.

Wrestling Observer reported that records show Fatu has filed to trademark the name 'Trinity Starr' with the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office). The filing is for merchandise use and general pro wrestling/sports entertainment use.

Fatu has kept a relatively low profile since last May but she has made a few red-carpet appearances alongside Mercedes Moné, attending the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever last October, the launch of Andor in September, and that of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law in August.

Fatu was there to support Moné when she made her debut for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 17, having flown to Tokyo, Japan to cheer on her friend. She can also be seen in the YouTube documentary Moné released chronicling her New Japan debut.

Fatu signed with WWE back in 2009, beginning her career in its developmental territory FCW before competing on the all-female third season of NXT the next year.

After moving to WWE's main roster, Fatu became a Funkadactyl alongside Cameron and was later cast in E! reality series Total Divas. After the break-up of the Funkadactyls, Fatu eventually won the the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship twice before her tag team run with Moné.
