Someone scored a record jackpot in the popular North Carolina Fast Play game, but the winner remained a mystery as no one immediately claimed the prize, lottery officials said Friday.

The player won the $1.14 million prize on a $10 Jackpot 777 ticket bought Friday morning at Metcalf’s Grocery on Tryon School Road in Bessemer City, according to a lottery news release.

“The win sets a new record for both a Fast Play jackpot and a Fast Play win,” officials said.

The jackpot surpassed $1 million for the first time Tuesday night, according to the lottery.

The previous top Fast Play jackpot win came March 11, when a player won $920,665 on a $20 100X the Cash ticket, plus the $200,000 cash that comes with a $20 Fast Play purchase, officials said.

The odds of winning a Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 320,000, according to the Fast Play game page.

The winner has six months to Friday’s jackpot at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

Fast Play jackpots rise with every ticket sold. After Friday’s big win, the jackpot started over at $20,000.
