Shohei Ohtani Gifts A Porsche To Supportive Wife Of His Los Angeles Dodgers Teammate

Ashley Kelly is having a December to remember, courtesy of Shohei Ohtani.

The Dodgers’ $700 million man gifted a brand-new Porsche to the wife of teammate Joe Kelly. The gift was a token of thanks for her campaign to bring the free agent to sign with the Dodgers.

“It’s yours. From Shohei,” Ashley Kelly is told in a video posted to social media. “He wanted to gift you a Porsche. I swear.”

The new owner of the silver four-door sports car was stunned.

“Shut the…” she said. She left the rest of the sentence silent.

Ashley Kelly’s viral #Ohtake17 campaign began as she offered her husband’s No. 17 and jokingly changed her seven-month-old’s name from Kai to ShoKai.

She also offered every piece of Kelly No. 17 apparel she owned, including a “Zaddy 17” sweater.

Ohtani signed a 10-year, $700 million contract earlier this month with the Dodgers. It is the largest in North American sports history, and Ohtani deferred much of the salary in order to help his new team attract even more talent. That paid off this week when coveted pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed with the Dodgers.

Ohtani will wear his No. 17 jersey while reliever Joe Kelly changed his number to No. 99.
