Son of Norway’s crown princess released after a week in custody over rape allegations
The eldest son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit was released from custody on Wednesday after his arrest last week on rape allegations, his lawyer said. Marius Borg Høiby, 27, is the stepson of the heir to the Norwegian throne, Crown Prince Haakon, and the son of Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. Borg Høiby was arrested last week in Oslo on a preliminary charge of having had “sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act,” police said.

Trump taps retired General Keith Kellogg for Ukraine envoy role
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Donald Trump has tapped Keith Kellogg, a retired lieutenant general who has presented him with a plan to end the war in Ukraine, to serve as a special envoy for the conflict, the president-elect wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday. Kellogg, who was the chief of staff for the White House National Security Council during Trump's 2017-2021 term and national security adviser to then-Vice President Mike Pence, will likely play a central role in attempting to resolve the conflict in his new position. While there is currently no special envoy for the war in Ukraine, Trump had privately expressed interest in creating the position.

This Thanksgiving, solar storms may produce faint auroras across the northern rim of the United States. Pale auroras may be seen across many northern states Thursday and Friday, but they may be brief and and seeing them will depend on how intense the solar storms get, NOAA meteorologist Mike Bettwy said in an email. Much of the following states are best positioned for potential auroras: Washington, Montana, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine.

'Several' Trump cabinet picks targeted with 'bomb and swatting threats', transition team says
Several people nominated to roles in Donald Trump's incoming cabinet and administration have been targeted by bomb threats and "swatting," a spokesperson for the US president-elect has said. The threats were made on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and law enforcement acted quickly to ensure the safety of those targeted, Karoline Leavitt said. In a statement, she said the incidents "ranged from bomb threats to 'swatting'", which is when a false crime is reported to bring an armed police response to someone's home.
