Mark Ruffalo to reunite with Chris Hemsworth on crime movie

Avengers stars Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth are set to reunite in a new crime thriller.

Ruffalo and Hemsworth, who played Hulk and Thor, are set to star in an adaptation of Don Winslow's novella Crime 101, produced by Amazon's MGM Studios.

While official plot details are yet to be announced, the original story follows Detective Lou Lubesnick as he investigates a spate of jewel thefts across the Pacific Coast, which the police believe have links to Colombian cartels.

Detective Lubesnick, however, has other ideas and zeroes in on one possible suspect looking for a big final score.

The Last Of Us star Pedro Pascal was originally linked to the film alongside Hemsworth, but scheduling conflicts meant he had to depart the film, which currently has no set release date.

It will be directed by The Imposter and American Animals' Bart Layton, who also wrote the script alongside Frank's Peter Straughan.

Joely Fether will act as executive producer, while producers on Crime 101 include Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Layton and Dimitri Doganis, and Derrin Schlesinger.

It follows Ruffalo's smash hit performance in Yorgos Lanthimos' Oscar-winning Poor Things alongside Willem Dafoe and Emma Stone.

The black comedy horror saw Ruffalo nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor, as well as nods from the Critics' Choice Movie Awards and the Golden Globes.

He is next set to appear in Bong Joon-ho's eagerly-anticipated Mickey 17 alongside Robert Pattinson, set to be released on January 31, 2025.

Ruffalo is also working on HBO series Task from Mare Of East Town creator Brad Ingelsby, which also stars Sam Keeley, Raul Castillo and Tom Pelphrey.

Hemsworth, meanwhile, has received rave reviews for his performance as Dementus in Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa.

With Anya Taylor-Joy in the titular role, the film tells the origin story of Furiosa, first played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road, from her capture by warlord Dementus to learning the ways of road war and her yearning to return to the Green Place.

Crime 101 is yet to receive a release date.
