Britain's minimum wage for workers aged 21 and over will rise to 11.44 pounds ($14.45) an hour in April - hitting two thirds of median earnings for workers in that age group, and one of the highest among advanced economies. The Department for Business and Trade said in a statement on Wednesday that this met a political commitment by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party and that for 2025 the minimum wage should rise in line with median earnings.
