· The 2020 competition was postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic. It was conducted in May 2021 and resulted in Andrea Meza from Mexico being crowned the Miss Universe.
· She was crowned by Zozobini Tunzi, winner of Miss Universe in 2019, in an event held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Florida, USA. Designer Ivis Lenin designed her clothes, which was influenced by Mexico's exquisite aesthetic.
· Meza wore a unique design by Mexico's designer, Avelino Roque Osorio, for the round featuring national costumes. With their vivid and brilliant patterns and embellishments, the costumes served to highlight the vitality of Mexican culture. The clothes designer, Edgar Lozzano, remarked that the construction of the outfit reflected Andrea's view of the universe, in which everything, including the outfit, is permitted to shine.
· Andrea Meza was questioned after the last round of questions about her thoughts on altering beauty standards. She expressed concern about forming stereotypes and emphasized that beauty is inherent in each of us and is determined by our actions.
· Zozubini Tunzi became the competition's longest-reigning winner as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak.
· This year, the competition attracted over 70 participants. Before competing in the pageant's final rounds, competitors were required to complete a preliminary round consisting of trivia questions covering various subjects. Only 21 of the 74 players that began the tournament advanced to the final stages.
· Andrea, a Chinese-Mexican, chose to remain in the fashion sector while pursuing a profession as a software programmer. She was named Mexico's Universal Champion on June 25, 2020.
· Adline Castelino, representing India, finished fourth in the contest. She looked mesmerizing in the Kummar Shravan saree she donned as a costume to represent her country’s heritage.
· The #PrayForMyanmar movement, which was sparked by Miss Myanmar Thuzar Wint Lwin and many others, resulted in her being named the National Costume winner. She made a statement with her dress and hijab selection for the event.
· Along with donning the Asian love slogan ‘Stop Asian Hate’, Miss Singapore made an active political statement by planting the "Stop Asian Hate" seed in her national outfit.
