Morgan Freeman Explains Why Batman V Superman Won’t Top Batman Begins

‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ has some pretty big shoes to fill when it comes to their incarnation of the Caped Crusader.

Christopher Nolan’s hugely popular ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is still very fresh in the memory, with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ hitting cinemas as recently as 2012.

Morgan Freeman, who portrayed Lucius Fox in the hugely popular franchise, has now insisted that it’s a huge ask for ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ to eclipse Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan’s Batman work, before then labelling ‘Batman Begins’ as the cinematic zenith for the character.

Freeman admitted to ET Online that while he’s happy for his ‘Sum Of All Fears’ co-star Ben Affleck he is still not convinced by the blockbuster.

“You know, I’m happy for Ben, but I don’t know how that’s gonna work. Because the ‘Dark Knight’ was almost ‘it’. Pretty much ‘it’.” Did you see ‘Batman Begins’? I don’t think you can beat that,” the Academy Award winning actor boldly predicted.

Christian Bale was much less harsh in his thoughts on ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’, however he did thank Morgan Freeman for his comments regarding ‘Batman Begins’.

“I think the trailers [for ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’] are looking great and I’m looking forward to that,” Bale remarked at the premiere for his latest film ‘Knight Of Cups’. “But right on for Morgan [Freeman] for saying no one will ever beat that, I very much like him.”

Obviously we don’t have much longer to wait now until ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ is finally with us, as the Zack Snyder film, which will, hopefully, prove to be the catalyst for the expansion of Warner Bros.’ DC Universe will finally be released later this month on March 25.
