More rain, snow for Sacramento and Tahoe: Here are weekend totals and what’s coming next
This past weekend was a solid mix of gloom and sun in Sacramento — but what’s sticking around?
Rain.
“The storm we had over the weekend is winding down,” but another storm is expected to come in after midnight Monday, said Eric Kurth, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.
Meanwhile, an already packed Tahoe can prepare for more snow.
Here’s how much rain and snow fell in Sacramento and Tahoe this weekend, with the majority falling Sunday:

Sacramento: 0.40 inches
Roseville: half inch 0.50 inch
Auburn: 0.75 inches
Folsom: 0.45 inches
Placerville: 0.84 inches
Davis: 0.40 inches

Below are 48-hour snow totals as of Monday morning, according to the weather service.
Central Sierra Snow Lab: 9.3 inches
Kirkwood: 8 inches
Sierra at Tahoe: 9 inches
Palisades: 8 inches
Sugar Bowl: 12 inches

What next?
Another system is forecast to sweep through Northern California after midnight Monday night.
Rain forecast
“It doesn’t look like it’s going to be a strong system, at least for our area,” Kurth said.
Winds of about 25 to 30 mph are forecast for Sacramento, according to the weather service.
Roughly half an inch to three quarters of an inch of rainfall is predicted to fall in Sacramento over Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the forecast, temperature lows will be in the mid 40s with highs reaching 61 degrees Thursday.
Snow forecast
Additional snowfall accumulation ranging from 4 to 8 inches of snow is forecast for areas above 4,000 feet, according to the weather service.
A winter storm watch will be in effect starting Tuesday.
For those traveling up the mountain, prepare for delays and chain controls. Tuesday is expected to be the heaviest snowfall day.
Mountain temperatures will remain between mid 20s and high 30s for the week.
Moderate snow will return to NorCal Tuesday-Wednesday. Total snow accumulations of 4-8" are expected above 4000 feet, with up to 1-2 feet across the higher elevations, mainly south of I-80.
