MM6 Maison Margiela's Resort SS23 Collection Celebrates Long, Balmy Nights

MM6 Maison Margiela presents its Spring/Summer 2023 lookbook, inspired by the long-awaited arrival of summer.

Shot in the queue outside Le Java, one of Paris' most popular nightclubs, the lookbook portrays a group of strangers, all bound together by their common love of nightlife. Centered around experimentation, SS23 for Margiela is all about finding beauty in the process of creating, showcased through unexpected details on conventional clothing.

Tailored trousers are given a work-wear style makeover, while tanks and T-shirts are spliced in half and reworked with multiple armholes. Elsewhere, broderie-anglaise trimmed pillowcases are transformed into cropped tops and bright sunken sandals make their seasonal debut. Color palettes are muted, boasting only whites, blacks, silvers and elements of red and blue in a variation of textures. For SS23, asymmetrical silhouettes are subversive and considered, each top without visible neck-holes and worn askew, giving the illusion of being 'yanked' back.

One standout piece from the collection is the Japanese bag, returning for the season in a vast array of forms. From boxy shoulder bags in brushed calfskin to pebbled leather slip-on shoes, the Japanese bag is truly the hero of SS23. Additional new accessories include the new Zippered Hat Bag alongside the Trois 6, a series of matte calf leather bags.
