Halton Healthcare is welcoming a new General surgeon. Dr. Diana Carter will be working on Milton District Hospital's (MDH) surgical team.

"Dr. Carter brings a new perspective and excellent surgical skill set in minimally invasive surgery," MDH Chief of Surgery Dr. Kevin Kwan said.

Carter brings expertise in a variety of procedures including breast cancer, colon cancer, gallbladder disease and hernia repair. She tries to use less invasive laparoscopic techniques whenever hospital to help with patients' recovery. "

"Unlike traditional open surgery that uses a large incision, minimally invasive surgery uses multiple small incisions. Patients have less pain, a decreased risk of wound infection and they are able to go home sooner," she said.

Carter completed her education, including a General Surgery Residency, and Masters Degree in Health Management at the DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. She completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at St Michael's Hospital in 2020.We're delighted to welcome Dr. Carter," MDH Chief Operating Officer Janet Skupsky said.
