Last week it was sadly revealed that ‘Monty Python’ legend Terry Jones was diagnosed with dementia.

Jones was famous for his TV and movie work that included co-directing ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, helming ‘Life of Brian’ where he played Brian’s mum, and also ‘The Meaning of Life’.

Long time collaborator and good friend Michael Palin has taken to Facebook to share a heartwarming and equally heartbreaking post about the devastation of dementia and his friendship with Jones.

Palin begins the lengthy post: ‘Terry J has been my close friend and workmate for over fifty years. The progress of his dementia has been painful to watch.’

Palin’s post has been shared over 287,000 times, touching the hearts of many fans and Facebook users in general, as he reminds people that while Terry is suffering from the illness, he’s not totally ‘out of circulation.’

The announcement came from Terry’s representatives, which happened just after it was revealed he was to be the recipient of an outstanding contribution to film and television award from BAFTA Cymru.
