What are the three issues that you see as most important to your district and what will you do to address them?

Affordable housing, deregulate alcohol sales and improve access to education.

At a time when costs are rising, state government has a surplus. How should it be used?

Make state employee and teacher pay and benefits more competitive.

Will you vote for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina?

Undecided.

What has the legislature gotten right, and what has it gotten wrong, about public education in North Carolina?

Right: Expansion of access through charter schools. Wrong: Failure to negotiate an end to the Leandro case.

Should North Carolina change its abortion laws? How?

There should be fewer restrictions on abortion after 20 weeks.

Please add anything else voters should know about your position on the legality or availability of abortion in North Carolina.

I believe abortion is morally wrong. I believe it is an even GREATER wrong to force a woman to act as if she agreed with me, if she doesn’t agree. The choice should be entirely private, with a woman consulting medical personnel and others she trusts.

Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?

Yes.

What, if anything, should the legislature do to shape curriculum dealing with topics of race, sexuality and gender?

This is up to local school districts, not the state. In particular, the state should not outlaw the teaching of “Critical Race Theory,” since that is hard to define, and would likely make ANY discussion of race difficult and uncomfortable.

Do you accept the results of the 2020 presidential election?

Yes.
