Michael B. Jordan Will Star In The Thomas Crown Affair Remake

It may be in its extremely early stages of production, but it’s been confirmed Michael B. Jordan will star in a remake for ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan will team up with MGM and feature as the movie’s leading man, after he and the company worked together to make ‘Creed’, the ‘Rocky’ sequel that was lauded by critics and did modestly at the box office.

This will be the second time ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ has been remade. Originally, Norman Jewison directed the crime-thriller in 1968 and starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. It was remade in 1999, starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo and directed by John McTiernan.

Interestingly, this project was suggested by Jordan himself and MGM execs were happy to greenlight it. It marks a somewhat significant feat where a black actor replaces a white one, rather than the other way around, which is refreshing. At present, there’s no director attached or script in the works, but there’s likely a hefty amount of interest on a project where Michael B. Jordan is concerned.

In recent years, Jordan’s become one of Hollywood’s hottest rising talents, with commendable turns in indie drama ‘Fruitvale Station’ and most recently in ‘Creed’ alongside Sylvester Stallone. But the less we say about ‘Fantastic Four’, the better.
