Michael B. Jordan Joins Marvel’s Black Panther

‘Black Panther’, Marvel’s upcoming solo film starring Chadwick Boseman, has acquired another cast member, in the form of ‘Creed’ star Michael B. Jordan.

THR reports that Jordan has boarded the project, but his role is at present remains undefined - he could even be the film’s villain, which would be an interesting role for the actor.

Having previously appeared in Fox’s doomed ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot last year, it appears the horrendous experience hasn’t put the star off the superhero genre.

Perhaps it’s the prospect of not only making a Marvel movie, but the chance of working with Ryan Coogler (for a third time no less, after this year’s lauded ‘Creed’ and the powerful ‘Fruitvale Station’) that enticed him.

Boseman will, quite clearly, front the movie as the intimidating Black Panther - a character we saw introduced in ‘Captain America: Civil War’. For many, his role was one of the stand-out elements, alongside the introduction of Tom Holland’s teenage Spider-Man.

Marvel haven’t officially commented whether Jordan’s character will be a hero or antagonist yet, but after advanced talks with Lupita Nyong’o suggest she’s also on board, the cast for ‘Black Panther’ is starting to take very nice shape.

Currently, ‘Civil War’ is riding high in the UK and US box offices, having made an impressive $788 million worldwide so far, as it could conceivably pass the $1 billion mark later this month.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is in cinemas now, with ‘Black Panther’ arriving in the UK on 6 July, 2018.
