Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers: Predictions, picks and odds for NFL Week 14 matchup

Two explosive offenses go head-to-head in primetime when Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins (8-4) square up with Justin Herbert's Los Angeles Chargers (6-6).

Tagovailoa suffered an ankle injury in a Week 13 loss but is expected to start against the Chargers, who need to string some wins together down the stretch to contend for an AFC playoff spot. Can Herbert, Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen and Co. do enough to outpace Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill? The game kicks off Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET from SoFi Stadium.

Here's a look at the betting details and USA TODAY's NFL staff picks for the Dolphins vs. Chargers Week 14 game:

Lorenzo Reyes: Dolphins 29, Chargers 21

Miami was certainly overwhelmed against that Niners defense but L.A. is not close to San Francisco in that regard. It will be an interesting case for Mike McDaniel and Tagovailoa to see how they respond to a big defeat, but I love the Dolphins in this spot.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (1) and wide receiver Trent Sheffield celebrate a touchdown against the Cleveland Browns.

Richard Morin: Dolphins 30, Chargers 28

If the Chargers get Mike Williams back this week, Herbert will have enough weapons to keep pace with the Dolphins in what could be a highly entertaining Sunday Night Football matchup. Still, I think the Dolphins escape Inglewood with a win.

Lance Pugmire: Dolphins 28, Chargers 24

Herbert badly needs Williams back, and his return should make this a Sunday night entertainer, but the Bolts’ defense is too porous and Tagovailoa capitalizes late.

Jarrett Bell: Dolphins 29, Chargers 24

Nate Davis: Dolphins 30, Chargers 23

Tyler Dragon: Chargers 28, Dolphins 27
