Met Office Says Thousands of Lightning Strikes Recorded on Stormy English Night

There was frequent lightning across many southern and eastern areas of England on the night of May 18, the Met Office said, along with hail and gusty winds in parts.

Andrew Wilde recorded the conditions in Southampton, where the sky was lit up by lightning. The Met Office provisionally reported that over 28,000 lightning strikes were recorded.
