Mississippi's capital city has settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by survivors of a man who died after police officers pulled him from a car while searching for a murder suspect. The Jackson City Council on Tuesday approved payment of $17,786 to settle the lawsuit that relatives of George Robinson filed in state court in October 2019, WLBT-TV reported. The payment to the relatives — including Robinson's sister, Bettersten Wade — was approved on a unanimous vote.
Nearly 20,000 flight attendants at the airline voted in favor of a new collective bargaining agreement, the Transport Workers Union's local chapter 556 said. Southwest has ratified contracts with eleven union-represented worker groups since October 2022, including a deal with its pilots earlier this year which will offer a near 50% pay raise over a five-year period. Flight attendants at rival American Airlines and United Airlines are also negotiating with the carriers for better pay and benefits, including pay for their time during boarding and on the ground.

Ford Motor Co.'s first-quarter net income fell 24% from a year ago as the company's combustion engine vehicle unit saw revenue and sales decline. The Dearborn, Michigan, automaker said Wednesday it made $1.33 billion from January through March, compared with $1.76 billion a year earlier.
