Memorial Day services in Sacramento area: Here are 3 ceremonies this weekend

Here are three services in the Sacramento area this weekend observing Memorial Day and honoring military personnel who died while serving.

Sacramento Valley National Cemetery service

The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is holding a memorial ceremony Saturday, May 28, at 9 a.m. The service, which will last for 15 to 30 minutes, will include a three-volley salute honoring veterans and music from the U.S. Air Force Band.

The cemetery, 5810 Midway Road in Dixon, is operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Rancho Cordova Memorial Day Observance

This Memorial Day service at Cordova High School’s performing arts center is taking place on Monday, May 30, at 10 a.m. At 2239 Chase Dr. in Rancho Cordova, the ceremony will feature a musical arrangement by a former U.S. Navy Band member.

The event is free to the public and includes a keynote address, brick dedication ceremony and refreshments.

Auburn Public Cemetery District

The Auburn cemetery will be holding a ceremony at 9 a.m at 1040 Collins Dr. in Auburn.
