Melbourne Protesters Met by Riot Police as Anti-Lockdown Demonstrations Return to Melbourne

Protesters were met by riot police in Melbourne, Victoria, amid anti-lockdown demonstrations on Wednesday, September 22.

This footage, filmed by Mitch Ryan, shows police officers marching down a street in Melbourne’s CBD to confront protesters, as well as large crowds of demonstrators chanting at the Shrine of Remembrance in Kings Domain.

Wednesday marked the third consecutive day of protests in the state’s capital, against a mandatory vaccine mandate imposed on the construction sector, as well as a statewide lockdown, according to local reports.

On Tuesday, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews condemned the behaviour of the protesters in a statement saying, “there is no excuse for the terrible behaviour we have seen in our city over the last two days,” before going on to thank the men and women of the Victoria Police for their service.
